Unseen

Just as the wind directs the sea,
My father directs me.
For so long, he went unnoticed
Yet he stayed so devoted.
Never did he waver
A shadow behind a filter
my life is but a dream
sorrounded by none
and seemingly unseen
A glance at me
a nod in my direction
yet never at me
forever shattered perceptions
They don't know about it.
The anxiety I face.
When I have to go to a place,
Where I know little to no people.
From working at the restaurant,
To a party at my friend's place.
Please help me
And make these shadows leave
Save me from the darkest street
Turn the lights back on
And I'm crying
Then I'm broken
Shattered on the floor
The mirror hides unseen faces
Lady in black
Pretty and fair
Don't dare look back
There's pain and suffering there
Lady in black
Silent and scared
The cards are stacked
And shame haunts the air
No one sees and no one can find
What I hide beneath this facade of mine
Constantly wanting for what cannot be
Constantly wishing for a better school,
A better life,
And better friends
They only fester in the silence.
Time is ticking.
We should stop being quiet
Because all they can do is fester in the silence.
The longer they fester, the worse the pain.
Time is ticking.
Life is unfair
The adults all preach it
But it takes so long for you to believe it
You ride the waves
Until the board breaks
People tell me I’m lucky.
They say I have the best parents in the world.
They tell me things like “I wish my parents were as nice as yours!”
But what they don’t know,
What they don’t see,
