Folly in Our Flowerbeds
In the age of self-growth,
We are destined for one thing only:
Ignorance.
Hunting down pictures of racial
divides the colors into flesh pantones
royalty free shots watermarked
with logos of the man whipping across
eyes and mouths of models making
Feed your righteous ignorance,
Because you'd rather move in a thoughtless mass,
A mess of mindless thoughts to pass,
Like a hurricane void of common sense.
Than kiss the faces, those before you,
America— The wonder of the West.
The country when, at its worst, is the best.
America, everyone’s dream destination,
Tell me, what is destined for our nation?
The American Dream has become a nightmare.
O say can you see
Just how far we’ve come.
The injustice in our country
Is a battle far from won.
People line the streets
I can still hear the cheers and tears of happiness
I can still see the crowds in the streets chanting his name
Waving the flag with pride and seeing a ray of hope
During a time where we had seen so much tragedy
I dreamed of the future
A depiction of innocence
The abolishment of intolerance
The passion of creativity
I dreamed of family
The contribute of togetherness
Acts of forgiveness
