I remember the Cinderella dress and slipper shoes that I used to use
I would dazzle myself in jewels that would shine once the sun reflected onto it
I call him Shifu
As he is my instructor.
And yet, he is much more than that.
He is my inspiration,
And my motivator.
He is my biggest fan,
Growing up as a young girl with yellow-toned skin,
It was hard for me to find role models I could relate to.
Luckily for me, I stumbled upon Bruce Lee.
To overcome hate and rage
To Train one's mind
Is a thing that is possible through self discipline.
Through knowledge, power, and perserverance
I can overcome any obstacle in my way.
Rid myself of the negative
Stand up and fight,
Shy little girl,
Meek as a rabbit –
Taunted, tortured, and tormented
By their words.
Stand up and fight,
Glass doll,
Pile of shattered shards with
