Tiny paws, reaching up so high
Grasping my fingers with tiny claws
Little mewls, screwed-shut eyes
The mother's patience made me pause
Watching her, kind as can be
Nursing her little ones, softly purring
Please don’t make fun of me
When I say I’m a vegan
Because you say you love Fluffy
Words drift into
Oblivion
The night stretches into
Morning
Alarm rings into
Irritation
Dawn breaks into
Eight, twelve, now sixteen hours have passed by
Drained I venture back home
I turn the key to be welcomed by those who miss me most-
My two kittens
Now it is time to cuddle and sleep
I may not be what you envisioned
That perfect porcelian doll.
It wasn't my decision
Life has its ups and downs as you know
Things can make me sad and they can make me happy
Yet
I want to be uplifted.
Perfect euphoria is within my reach when:
I stand in the clearing of a snow-cloaked forest
But that's not what I saw.
His body was limp and
His nose was cold, and when we wanted him to stand
He couldn't.
He had a look in his eyes
like he knew all about life
Why is my mommy dead?
I nudge her but she won't wake up,
Is it beacuse she gives us all the food?
People walk by but no one helps us,
I paw at my mommy meowing,
Im hungry but no one is helping us,
Lightning's Haiku
I love my kitty
I rescued him off the street
His name is Lightning
I hear your cries, but there are no words
only foreign sounds and the commotion that you stir.
You scream for someone to listen, someone to care,
but nobody answers, even though they are there.
Beaten.
Bruised,
Harmed,
Abused.
Animals that have no voice can't speak out,
So it's our job to SPEAK UP.
We are the only hope.
We are a voice for the voiceless.
