Learn more about other poetry terms
Living, breathing, exposing ourselves to one another,
I wanted more than anything to feel, touch, express
like the others.
The one in my life existed but they didnt,
They could stay up all night with me whereas
The screen stares back at me
Skyscrapers, mountains, giants
The eyes stare back at me
Film with its paramount guidance
How they can change me
Then a scene unrolls
I think I know everything
the unlimited lesson
“Everything I learned I learned from the movies.”
-Audrey Hepburn-
Fade in: and the picture starts
I was eight and life was simple
Simple enought to ride my bike whenever I wanted
I wanted to explore, find new places
Places like hidden paths and back roads
Roads that led me to a church that was empty
It's funny how blood makes me nauseous
when I used to beg it to drip down my arms,
beckoning it with razors and scissors
like the red would scream loudly enough
When I was a kid,
I used to watch horror movies with my dad
I would shake with fear, with my teary eyes hid.
He would tell me:
“You have to distinguish
The reels from reality.”
A shark, a ship, a vigilante
Directed by three visionary S's
Masters of their craft
70s classics, American landmarks, celluloid perfection
Filled with horror, thrills, unease
A great white adventure
Step out of the lense.
Life put me on the spot.
Disappearing smiles, i've been caught.
Put a new star on.
I want a change of scene.
Look into another life of a suburban teen.
It is not something I want, as it is something I need
I would do anything for it, but I probably wouldn't bleed
This is what I live for
And nothing more
I will not be satisfied until I achieve it
When I was fourteen years old one of my best friends died.
I wandered the halls of my dreary middle school where
my anxiety levels rose and my confidence fell.
My heart raced as I ran from my classroom
Never have I felt more safe
Than in this room full of strangers.
This is my real home,
Where I belong.
When the lights go down
And the projecter above me lights up the blank screen
Films are on my mind.
They exist within a frame that isn't too hard to find,
but always tangible in my eyes.
The faces of my favorite actors
stepping into roles and sneaking behind the silver screen.
Movies and films are much more than just fun.
films that reveal victims that are more than done.
i want to be a director that shares their dismay,
I'll show how good wins but how evil still poisions the day.
It can be any of them.
Just please give me one.
They don't have to be playing Frozen;
the job doesn't have to be fun.
I want to sweep the floors,
take your tickets, show you your seat,
Creativity. Creativity. Creativity.
The sole thought rattles my brain day in and day out,
It is the sound of hushed breathing. It is the rhythmic silhouette of strides, the perfectly choreographed dance. It is the way that the summer sunlight creates small crystals in the hanging spider webs.
As a child who loved to readI grew up with stories all around me.Stories of courage, of adventure,of little girls who weren't afraid to dream. Those stories shaped me into who I am,
The lights go up, the mics are readySet up the camera, nice and steady“Quiet on set!” Ready for the showAll prepared, waiting for my go.
Cartoons play on the screens
The master minds behind the scenes
Is who I will achive to be.
Thousands of us sprout out of editing software and Iphone cameras every year
Every Year with aspirations of L.A. back lots and walls lined with Oscars
A bebop roadshow, slapping and jumping
Loose and direct, structured like a wire
Going zip and zap, spreading its electrical seed,
Feeling around the corner, hiding with the lights on
Do we know what it is?
I sit by watching the world turn
Round, round, round.
I see the prom queen crowned,
The football team reign.
Everything and nothing
seems to revolve around me.
From when children of the 90's are exposed to the world of fantasy,
With wild imagination and creativity that sores beyond a lie.
That first glance we believe we could fly,
The moments pass by in a blink of an eye.
These inspire people to not just soar but to make them fly.
Larger than life events are depicted so all can see.
To show the life of one, or to show how we are free.
