Your Country

"One nation,

Under God,

Indivisible,

With liberty,

And justice for all."

It's interesting how people believe that those words are not false;

It's interesting seeing tons of my sisters and brothers having to fall;

It's even more interesting witnessing you get away under some sort of law.

But isn't it funny how you hate us because of the skin that we live in;

And isn't it funny how you are allowed to get away with such a great sin;

Isn't it funny how you don't have to end up in a casket or a bin?

These are of course the terms of our society;

And because of you, I get to live my life full of anxiety;

Now my mental illnesses have turned into a variety.

Now because of you, these are the things that I will do;

I will continue to sit while your pledge is being recited;

All the while you continuously enter our homes without being invited;

I will continue to sit during your anthem;

All the while you scream they got what was deserving of them.
