You in a Dark Room
Black-eyed behemoth
Lurking ominously, regretfully, sheep-shy
Turn your eye askance
And witness what truth reveals:
Uncontrollable wildflowers regurgitating from his blackness.
Wilting as soon as sunlight breaches.
How can we expect those, afraid of their own beauty, to blossom
When our own glare is so toxic and unforgiving?
As treacherous to the self as carbon dioxide. A wildfire of dust and drought. Debilitating warfare on home territory.
We are all victims of shipwreck, cleaved open, clean, from the seams
Without a needle and thread to amend us. Resurrect us.
Give me your grace by emitting a smile; unscathed compassion.
A breath of immaculate oxygen.
Virgin water.
Solidarity from my very bone marrow.
Unfastened. Unclosed.
Hold my hand and let my light divulge.
