Work

I wanted to read but my mind was at work
Listing all of the things it had seen, felt, and heard
There were days void of hope, there were nights spent in tears
Over all my love, dope, had costed me through the years
I was tired and dull, useless beyond what you think
I began missing television, and the days I would drink
I'd fallen into an epidemic sure enough, no surprise
But it catches you off guard with each dreadful sunrise
And you're broken and lost and so misunderstood
You begin feeling hopeless trying to remember what felt good
In a world you resisted but never could leave
Till your shoes wore away, left in pieces on the street
You'd concluded that nothing had any real worth
Yeah I wanted to read, but my mind was at work.
