Within Us All

within us all lives a thing

not a creature not a being

just an inescapable indescribable thing

we keep it hidden deep

in a dark corner of our minds we all want to forget about

there are days it escapes the cage

it runs loose wreaking havoc

tearing us apart from the inside

bringing up memories from the dark abyss

telling us things that we tell ourselves everyday

things that we could never forget even on our best days

things that even our worst enemies would never say to us

but our monsters our hidden creatures our demons

they never let us rest

they never let us sleep

they never let us smile and spend time with the ones we love

not without making an appearance

they always come back

Our world
