Why I'm Thankful

If you were to ask me a year ago,

where I thought I'd be.

I would say "dead" or "gone"

Never would I have

imagined myself here.

In this very room, surrounded by

everyone who I hold dear.

Ready to leave this place, which

has caused me both happiness and pain.

I am thankful for everything around me

which has given me life.

I am thankful for God and faith,

even if I didn't always believe.

Friends and family, who are always

supporting me.

Even if it doesn't always feel like it.

But most of all I am thankful for

the miracles of life.

Whenever I'm on the edge,

and ready to give up.

Someone comes along and gives me

that tiny spark of hope needed to carry on.
