If I wrote a tearful letter,

Begging for daddy to live.

Would my life be any better?

If I held back my true emotion,

Lied about her lover’s caress,

Would I still have my mom’s devotion?

If I screamed, begged, and pleaded

So one of my 21 fosters would hear,

Would I come away any less mistreated?

If I wrote for any purpose

 other than letting my story shine,

If I wrote for just any person,

 My words wouldn’t be really mine.

I write for the tragedies in my life.

I write for every kid wishing to be heard.

I write for any experiencing strife.

But mostly I write, just to write.
