I hide behind the curtain.

Looking around 

I see a smile

Or a frown.

I see those who are popular

Those who aren't me

I see what I should, "be".

Acting as if I care what they say

I tell myself 

It will only matter for a while, anyway. 

I hide behind the curtain

Never to reveal my true self.

Because if I did

I would be placed on the "weird" shelf.

With my mask off

I'm just a bore

And with my mask on 

I am THAT girl next door.

Hiding makes it easy

Not to be bullied or teased.

Behind that curtain or mask

It is you, who is the main task.

I hate being "her"

But she is cool

She fits in at school.
