What Poetry has Taught Me
What Poetry Has Taught Me
By E.S.
What has poetry taught me?
Rhyme.
Reason.
Emotions that go deeper than the surface.
What has poetry taught me?
Comfort.
Sadness.
The greatest loves and tragedies known to man.
Who has taught me poetry?
Shakespeare.
Shelley.
Browning.
Frost.
Where would we be if we did not have poetry?
Would we have advanced as a culture?
Would we continue to dream?
Would we delve into the intricacies of the human heart or the complexities of the human mind?
No.
Because it is poetry that teaches us to evolve.
To explore all the facets.
To push ourselves.
To understand nature.
To be romantics.
To be cynics, realists, and optimists.
Poetry is power, comprised of words that weave a magic spell.
In different structures.
In different settings.
But we all fall.
Always.
