She breaths
Slowly
Like an impending thunderstorm in July
The growls and turbulence of the past echo in her throat
She is beautiful
Her movements make the cactus flowers bloom
Reflections On Poetry
By: Tasnim Tarannum
Poetry has taught me more
than I realized when I first started.
Thoughts
can be translated into
i thought and i wrote
but it never came to me
i was writing about my hopes
how do i look at my dreams?
the words, they're right there, on paper
no, it's too late to come back to it later
I am tired of them.
The overused similes, the underused authenticity:
Poetry.
Except,
When I hear of the tree of man (the one that was never quiet)
I am pleased with them.
It's been a little over a year,
Typing on this keyboard,
With lingering thoughts that bare,
Wondering why I kept silent,
For all this time,
When poetry etches the deepest fragments,
The way I work everything out;
from how I work words with my mouth,
to the way I decide to go out,
to whether I whisper or shout,
is all just a matter of choice.

What has poetry taught me?
Rhyme.
Reason.
Emotions that go deeper than the surface.
