We Who Believe In Freedom
Location
We who believe in freedom still can't rest,
Cause we who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes.
From elementary to High Schools where quote on quote "people grown",
There's nine little rocks being thrown,
From the ones that's stoned.
Where the B vs. B of E is not really known.
Cause when the teacher talks about Brown and the Board,
On the chalkboard,
Students get bored and just talk more.
Not knowing they're the ones the Little Nine walked for.
So it's our time to take some steps forward now that they cant walk more.
And on the after school bus,
They think it's cool ta,
Sit in the back and act a fool cause,
They disregard what their rules was,
24 days before Christmas,
1955,
The only thing on a innocent lady's wishlist,
Was to have the bus equalized.
But Instead she was told to get up,
While looking in evil's eyes.
But that was along time ago,
So you see how evil dies.
But the naive rise.
Then they soon fall,
Just how Steve died,
You know Bantu,
Biko.
The only difference is,
He died by racist police,
And we die by people in street clothes,
With the scent of weed smoke.
Cause we grow,
Being told people's unequal,
But it's not black vs. white,
It's more like black vs. black,
That's how the street goes.
Kids should be home, but they rather roam,
They in the streets beefing for the no reason.
They breaking the connection
that was Made back in the days of MLK,
When they was in the streets fighting to be breathing,
They put their hands together,
And decided to band together,
To make a unity for you and me.
And wouldnt rest till to complete,
Whoever still believes in the dream can't see Z's
Cause we,
We who believe in freedom still cant rest,
Cause who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes.
We who believe in freedom still cant rest,
Cause who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes
And there's definitely no more Mohandas,
Especially when death is the only thing that bonds us,
While surround by these young killers that are upon us,
We terrorist to our own,
Becoming neighborhood bombers.
Gain some peace,
From a speech,
Being spoken by Obama,
Then the next day turn around,
And assaulting like Osama.
Too many gang annihilations,
No more boyscout honors,
That's the reason why we got all these unsure eyes on us.
Cause we love dressing up as the criminal,
With our Snapbacks to the back,
And yo pants sag as winter clothes.
And the same thing for summer clothes,
With a gat to the side,
Cause that's just how the summer goes.
Cause we don't see it as a time advance,
Just a time to hold guns in our hands,
And blow it off at every chance.
Cause you love to brag about how much your tool worth.
But I say you not even as much as a man,
As the men that demanded not to stand up in Woolworth.
And you ask yourself how much really is a stool worth.
It's the morality,
And in reality
It's worth your freedom,
Your equality.
Our nationality,
Is at a disgrace now,
Because we feed into the negative stereotypes of our race now.
We are at a place now,
Are hands up
, face down.
Education must be gained now,
We can't stay the same how,
We all up in gangs now.
Obama came now,
But things haven't changed,
Cause we changed how?...
Obama can't save the world if we remain down.
I know most of the people that you know are really tame now.
But you can be the first change now.
You could write a book like misses Phil Wheatly.
Pick up a freedom journal and maybe Peter will weekly,
Tell you that you're smarter than you probably believe in deeply.
Cause the people you around,
Are constantly bringing down.
You grow up being taught it's impossible to get a college degree.
But Alexander Twilight showed it possible in 1823.
Or you can be like P.F.H,
He got his Ph.D,
And became the first black president of a major university.
We actually surrounded by alot of opportunities,
It's just a big game of hide and seek.
You gotta be willing to find these options and offers.
Like Jupiter Hammon, The first black author,
And if you think that aint recent enough.
Just know we got a black president in the Untied States, keepin it up.
...From being slaves in a white house,
To having a black face in the white house.
But in a way,
We kinda still slaves,
And That reason why.
We who believe in freedom still can't rest,
Cause we who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes.
We who believe in freedom still cant rest,
Cause who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes
Slaves to the pressure made by our peers,
Slaves to the television for a couple years.
You say that's a TV, How can be slaves to it?
Because there's negativity shown on the shows and we everyday tune to it.
And never turn away like we immune to it.
You say I'll never do that, I'll never say that,
But then you soon do it.
One by one they pickin,
Your characteristics that made you different.
Like the ones that got they pants sagged and refuse to lift it.
How many of you think you'd wear you're pants half fitted
If Wayne never did it.
The television got us chained up.
Can't you see the way these stations changed us.
A younger generation growing dangerous.
Thank us.
What is he to do when the only thing see,
is not his father,
But some violence being shown on the TV.
Now his role model,
Hold bottles,
And scold models.
Cause YOLO be the motto.
And its not that you only live once,
So while we living lets grow,
Its that you only live once,
So while we living lets blow.
We slaves to the money that we wish that we can hold.
Stuck in bad situations just wishin we could go,
But we can't physically go anywhere,
If we mentally can't grow.
And we continuously deny it,
As we givin up hope.
And I aint gotta do much to see it,
But just stand up by my window,
Here the silent cry of the youth,
Simultaneously as the wind blows,
Screamin family over everything,
Like we living with the Winslows.
Its the only thing that matters,
As they chatter bout how they as alive as they can be.
But when I look outside,
I see a whole bunch of kids being choked by a rope,
And just hanging from a tree.
And they fallin like its Autumn,
And they're leaves.
People walk by and they look and then they aww,
And then they leave.
how can expect our younger generation to achieve.
If we can't set any examples
And we definitely cant lead.
MLK is not here anymore,
It's our time to lead.
Malcom X isnt here anymore,
It's our time to lead.
Rosa Parks isnt here anymore,
Its our time to lead.
They would fight till they bleed.
So freedom could be free.
And I still believe.
..In Peace.
We who believe in freedom still can't rest,
Cause we who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes.
We who believe in freedom still can't rest,
Cause we who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes.
Obama came now,
But things haven't changed,
Cause we changed how?...
..You can be the first to change now
