Walking Shadow

When you feel weighed down

With arms and legs made of lead,

Back broken,

Bent over backwards,

Spirits crushed like old soda cans,

But you still say things like

"I don't mind"

And,"It's no problem."

Your heart is so big

But it still has no room for "no"

You believe in helping others

Even when you can't help yourself.

You live to see others smile when you can't

And to know that you brightened someone's day.

And because like a shadow you're used to second place.

You know on rainy days no one will see you

Because feelings are something your're not entitled to,

And favors are a courtesy you don't have.

Because old buildings are knocked down after they've outlived their use.
