Unsaid Love

You trek through the days of gray,

Your candle burning bright.

I pay no regard to your wilted body,

As I prance around in fields of green.

Trees sway above our home,

You tuck me in and whisper your gentle love.

I take these things for granted,

I am ashamed to even say.

Dad, do you wish upon that shooting star?

Maybe the years have become numbers.

Maybe my silence has become proof,

But the wrinkles around your mouth

When you smile hello

Could not be faked.

After all these years,

Your undying love,

Wrapping its arms around my heart,

And for that

I love you.
