Universal Comprehension

Oh, how I'd like to know infinity.

To hold that vastness in my head

Even for a moment.

To know beneath my hair there lies

The universe, that spots my skies

With light.

Oh, if my eyes could hold the spark

That births stars of blazing glory

I would never cry.

To sense the forces that impel

All things into being, if I could -

I wish I could.

But I am me and I am small

Bound to this planet of this scale

With a mind that can just grasp

A trip traversing half this sphere.

I'd still like to know infinity.
