THE UNDUE BANISHMENT

DON'T PROMISE ME THAT YOU WILL STAY, BECAUSE...

I will test your patience,
I will gash your soul,
I will penetrate your ego,
I will wound your honor,
I will judge your manners,
I will dissect your heart,
I will make you talk sweetly until the bitterness takes over,
I will keep telling you no until the facade of love wears off,
I will persistently push you away until you lose the grip,
I will keep raising the bar to see when you give up the climb,
I will starve you of affection to unveil if you survive on lust,
I will steadily cut through to see what fabric weaves your ego,
I will burn you with my wrath to see how hollow your kindness is,
I will keep sniffing until you reek of poisoned blood.
And that will be the cost of your promise to stay.

But then one night, I will see you walk away without a goodbye, because it is a lot easier to leave without fighting for your love than to stay and become better.
