Three Little Words

I read that words have the power to change us and for the longest time, I refused to believe it.

I thought words were nothing but words, that there was no power to them until I realized that sometimes the only power somebody has is their words.

In just three small words you can change a life for the better.

Say “I love you” to another person and watch how their face lights up.

They will shine.

Admit “He was abusive” to yourself and mourn for the happier days that once were.

They will again.

Confess what is happening and breath in the freedom that saying those words has on you, remove the weight that’s been holding you down.

The weight can’t be lifted unless you let it, and you won’t let it until you say it, write it down, see and hear the words that you have been repressing because you are afraid.

Don’t be afraid of words.

Yes, they do have the power to change us, to obliterate the rose covered glasses that you’ve glued to your face, but is that really a bad thing?

Let those words change you and bask in the freedom that they bring.

Words are powerful.

They are freedom.

They are life.
