The Threat of Life: Watch Me Die As I Comply

Fri, 03/01/2019 - 11:19 -- Tiarra3

Living on campus is too dangerous these days

As I have a fear of guns that will blaze

As school shootings are not a phase

So I commute

A thirty-five minute drive

But trust that ride contains uneasiness stride

I watch

I look

Please don't get behind me

Insured and all I still get scared

Driving the speed limit

Limiting my rapid breathing

The lights go on

In my head I'm screaming

Pull over in public so everyone can see

License and registration the words he speaks

I comply... I have no choice

This car isn't yours his words rejoice

Of course it is the paper says so

In a roaring scream he yells out of the car

Hands in the air and I don't care if anyone sees

I comply in hopes that I don't die

Someone in the distance we both heard a sneeze

Followed by a pop and the words freeze

I'm on the ground as the cop watches me bleed

No call for an ambulance..... Just the awaited death

Even as I commute the guns were still blazing

As the government allows me to die

Justice does not exist for anyone with brown skin

This poem is about:
Me
My family
My community
My country
Our world
