They Are The Future

Life is a gift,

Or so they say.

Babies are born

And everyone is happy.

But why are they happy

When life is unfair?

Why do we wish this unfair life

Unto innocent babes.

Why are they wronged into

This world of terror?

“Children are the future.”

Did they ask for it?

Do children wish

To be the ones responsible for how the world turns out?

They are pushed into

An unforgiving world

And told to make the best

Of what the world has to offer.

But how can you make the best

Of something you are not

Guaranteed?
