The Strangers We Are In This World

This religious moment of my life
This catastrophe that has befallen
Who until yesterday
Had meant more to me
Than life itself
Today it's like looking in the mirror
At the face of a stranger
Who had it all planned
Losing my religion
My world falling apart
My belief system shaken
Speechless at the loss
That someone I once loved
Could hurt me like this and betray my heart

Blood gushing to my head
Rage I feel inside
Or is it just the pain I feel
That is leaving me all numb inside
I try to shake it away
I try to tell myself it's all a lie
Yet as I see the ashes of what's left behind
Says the story of what happened tonight
Losing my religion
My world falling apart
My belief system shaken
Speechless at the loss
That someone I once loved
Could hurt me like this and betray my heart
