Stormy Thoughts

Location

When you see a word, scrawled on a line.

Does it ground your thoughts,

Like on anchor

Deep in the sea?

Does your mind roil,

Like a storm that grew up,

All alone,

Abandoned by its parents?

Does the idea creak and break,

Like boards on a ship

That only wishes it could sink, to end its pain?

Does it make you cry,

Like a shipmate

Who dove overboard to save the carving he made for his daughter back home,

Who he knows he’ll never see again?

When you think, about the words you’ve scrawled on a line,

Do you keep writing?
