Steering for the Future

Mon, 02/04/2019 - 13:22 -- kg30

Every time I look at you a chill runs through my body

You remind me of all the things I have failed to do

You prevented me from doing many things

You hurt me when I needed you most

Sometimes I wonder if I will ever be capable of moving on

Other people have never felt your wrath and I envy them

They often have a special spot in their heart for you

You are their first taste of freedom

For me you were my first obstacle

I have seen you red

I have seen you blue

I have watched with lust for years and years

However, today the time has come

The time has come to face my biggest fear

My biggest embarrassment

My biggest enemy

Today, oh today

We will be alone at last

We can have the bond you have with everyone else

And when it is all said and done

I will ring your bell in triumph and ride into the warm sunset

For today is a day for new beginnings and facing my fears

Today will be the last day I am afraid of something as idiotic as you

Today will be the last day I ignore you

Today will be the day I finally learn how to ride a bike.
