The Simple Things

There's beauty in the simple things

How the sun kisses the water,

the way the morning bird sings

Oh yes, there's beauty in the simple things

A girl taking her hair down

after a long day,

Washing off her mascara,

wiping her lipstick away

Or when a boy bows his head

to meet his girl's father

showing him that he's worthy

to hold the hand of his daughter

Oh yes, there's beauty in a rain cloud

filled up with a heavy mist

giving way to a lover's first kiss.

Slow, passionate, and full of bliss

I believe that

When the wind blows through the trees,

my long-lost love is whispering to me

And I believe that

When the moon meets the stars

the universe is telling me that he is not very far

I believe there's beauty in the simple things

When the rain falls down and embraces me

Or when the sun shines down

to reflect off the sea.

It's true, I believe in the beauty of the simple things.
