Show, Don’t Tell

Show, don’t tell,

They say in every English class ever

But who are they to

Hold me with a binding tether

My life is my own

Prosperous, Young, and Full

Why must I subtly state

How love has took it’s toll

I fell in love, So be it

It happens quite often

But now they want me to explain

How my heart has been broken

As if stating my feelings

Make them any more real

I can guarantee the long nights of tears

SHOW that I feel

I refuse to put my emotions

Into a simply put word

I’m going back to my safe haven,

To just being a nerd.

There is nothing more

I need to state for you to see

That the love that I had

Took the passion from me.
