Run, and Don't Remember Me
Location
On the outside I smile and laugh
But inside I am very sad
I look around and wonder why
I always want to lay and cry
My life is good. I’ve done good things.
But even the good can be crushed by
The bad. Regret can null and void
The happiness inside of me.
I’ve broken hearts. I’ve lied. I’ve hurt
The people I am supposed to love.
I drag them down (don’t lie. I do.)
I make them sad (I’m sorry too.)
I want them not to fear for me
I want them to know that they’re great
They will leave me behind and feel
More success than I ever will.
Because of that, I don’t let them in.
I don’t let them see who I’m meant to be.
Because I want you to look at you, not me.
It should be easy to cut their ties from me.
I want them to look forward, not back.
Run, my clever friend. Don’t remember me.
Remember your success, and I hope my sacrifice
Made you great.
