reconsider

sometimes i lie

on top of you

because my skeleton

can feel you

and i like that

you know me,

i like to save my uppercase letters

and i think lowercase

are soothing

like whispers on wrists

like when i had a limb

made of words

i forgot;

it kept growing

even when i stopped

and i’d hug it

to my torso

because i liked to hear it talk.

i learned that

in the 17th century,

there were prints

made specifically to eat,

thousands of edible promises

leaving nothing behind

meaning sometimes now

we recycle,

so don’t throw away sketches

even if you think

it’s just paper

dirty from before-thoughts

because

you’re just jumbling soggy truths in your mouth,

and i’ve never liked that.
