Raise me up

Location

Surrounded by adversity;

expected to fall and fail.

The middle child over looked,

Invisible to one and all.

I try to find my place

I try to find my skills;

instead I drown in obscurity,

gasping for air and reprise.

For years avoiding mirrors and lens.

For years keeping my eyes downcast.

I fall and fall and can’t get up,

Till the day He calls my name.

“My child” he says “you’re needed now,”

“Your place, it’s time to take.”

My God, my Lord you changed my life.

Now the true me I can see.

A daughter of God filled with grace;

for you the world I seek to change.

So to all who sought to see me fall,

instead I rise and grow and live.

Determined to take my place.

A different world I’ll usher in,

a world that I will change.

I’ll seek to make all feel loved

and grow in grace and strength.
