Pursuit

I search for happiness knowing it exists.

Days pass without success.

This doesn't cause me to lose hope.

I continue to pursue happiness. 

Finally my heart is filled.

Everything I seek is finally found.

Tears do not exist and smiles take over.

Wait, no, where did you go?

We fell in love and then you left.

You came back but then they ripped you away.

The days we share I'm happy.

The days you're absent I cry.

Why can't I be happy every day?

They say we have the right to pursue happiness. 

But they don't tell us that that's all it is. A pursuit.

Happiness cannot be achieved. Only pursued.
