Purpose
A heart pure and strong
A mind so quick and clever
A voice that can reach out
A world to be made better
My purpose not derived
From luscious looks or pleasant sight
But rather from the person
That is dwelling there inside
For if we simply strive
For attention or self-fame
Our legacy will die
The day we meet our grave
A pretty face to look at
Is all they'll ever see
But I want them to see God
Not simply to see me
This world that lies so broken
So lost and so confused
Trapped within the fleeting
Wanting just to be amused
Skin will surely crumble
Riches go to waste
Years turn to months
And months turn to days
I've been put here for a reason
A purpose pumping through my veins
And even if I lose myself
That one thing will remain
So when all is said and done
Any I'm lying in the ground
What will I have become
Will I have made my father proud?
