The Prince's Luxury, The Prince's Burden

I am a prince, born into a luxurious home,
I grew up to know what it’s like
To be a full-blooded royal, it’s a hard life to dislike.
It gives you a title of great power, like a lightning strike.
I am his son, one who rules like the Emperor of Rome.
I am a prince, born into a luxurious home,
I grew up to know what it’s like.

I am a prince, supposedly born into a glorious life,
But I grew to know and learn.
I feel dark pride, along with angst and strife.
As a royal, I held the king’s engraved knife
And now I know of my wretched burden in life.
Why am I his son? What honor from that do I earn?
I am a prince, supposedly born into a glorious life,
But I grew to know and learn
