The Price of Freedom

Thu, 01/19/2017 - 11:44 -- ikram98

Over the course of the last year, I have experienced a significant amount of change

I graduated high school, leaving the security and stability behind

I lost some friends

I turned eighteen, no longer a child

I moved out of the comfort and stability of my parents home

I quickly began to realize the financial burdens of adulthood

I started college, which I discovered is significantly harder than high school

But with all these seemingly negative experiences, came a lot of growth

I gained a sense of freedom

I made a lot of new friends

I was finally able to do what I wanted to do, whenever I wanted to do it

I was able to discover myself outside of my parents walls

I was free!

But at what cost?

What is the price of freedom?

Over the last 365 days, I began to understand what it means to be grown.

This poem highlights one of the major issues I have faced this year. Do I have enough money to be on my own? What is the price of freedom for you?
