The Power of Reading (Sonnet)

Location

Pick me up and open me to begin/
Don’t like the world you’re in? Choose a new one/ I’ll take you to places you’ve never been/ Words on a page create worlds matched by none

A comfort for when you’re sad or alone/ With all kinds of characters to choose from/ All people better than the ones you’ve known/ Extending an invitation to come

Romance, mystery, horror, and sci-fi /There’s one for people of all walks of life/Some will make you laugh, some will make you cry/Stories full of joy, stories full of strife

Reading a book has all kinds of power/ Each one pulls you in hour by hour
