How is it that all of us poets live separate lives,
never meeting, never speaking, never working together,
yet our voices are so similar?
The way we all write,
there is something that unites us,
something that ties us together.
Our struggles are different, yet they are the same.
Our feelings are different, yet somehow the same.
It blows my mind to think all of us are connected.
That there is something bigger than us
trying to bring us together as one--
one group, one community, one family.
We write what we think,
not only because it inspires us,
but because it inspires others.
And imagine what we can do if we use what we know,
what comes freely from our minds on to paper,
to change the world.
Imagine what that would be like.
It sounds pretty incredible, doesn't it?
The power of poetry, let's use it.
