A POEM FOR MY POET
I loved her, sincerely
but i loved her enough to know i was'nt ready completely,
I whispered in her ears words of affirmation promising her safety.
believe me i meant it, but maybe it was just my fragile heart speaking.
Assuming it was ready for everything.
but as time passed by Amal was the sun to rise one morning
I never want for her what i was given,
a world full of hate and uncertainty. i might have seen the signs and yes
they scared me. I was raised in a household where errors were a curse,
blessings were seen as a sign of failure. i had to be my own father, taught myself how
to ride a bike. i dont mean to use my past as fuel to my actions, my decisions have
nothing to do with you rather the current me.
you were meant for grater love i see it in your smile, i want to be the one you lean on
when you cry, but maybe when the time is right. maybe when our stars collide, a spark
to rekindle a love we shared, ignite restore the beating heart we once could've heard.
