Pillow Thoughts

I wonder what is the purpose of us
Of you and I and the sparks that ignite at the mere touch of our lips
Of the golden years that brought us closer marked by your desire left on my hips

I wonder what is the purpose of us
Of the sweet menses that flow from the slick seams of our depth
When we have given birth to nothing but tainted memories and regret
I wonder what is the purpose of your affection if you only use it to disempower me of my discretion
Have me run in and out of my mind than calling it a day from slaving away at your heart’s rejection
Give and take becomes give to take more than what you invested in
Let you envelope me with the darkness of your lustful sins

I wonder what is the purpose of us
When you thrive on my insecurities and the worst of my fears
And bask in your infidelity and bathe with my tears
Your W.A.I.T. mentality makes you a precarious lover
You dish out your toxic hope like a buffet and watch me as I suffer
Trying to pull the push door of your tainted heart
What is the purpose of us aiming for greater heights when you always have me on the floor, lifeless like the perfection in your flaws
Love is supposed to set me free yet I am a prisoner to your existence
My persistence for this “you and I” is more illusive than the sky promised me

What is the purpose of us
Or more importantly, what are we?
