Peanut Butter Words

Dear School Board,

You threaten me with your words

With your long sentences of gibberish and peanut butter

Peanut butter that sticks to the roof of your mouth

A taste remains

Bitter

Sticky

Sticky like how your mom told you the gum you swallowed will stick to your ribs

Sticky like the situation you put me in

Sticky like the floors you neglect to wash

Neglect to care for

You neglected to care for me

You neglected to think of my feelings

Why do adults make the decisions when I am perfectly capable of making my own

I also have two opposable thumbs

I also have a mind full of ideas

I lack none of what you have

What you lack is a soul that dances like tree branches in the wind

What you lack is wide eyes full of wonder and curiosity

What you lack is the knowledge that I will fight back

I am better than your torment

You threaten me with your words

Your sticky peanut butter words

But that doesn't stop me

With all my love,

The One You Should Be Listening To
