Peanut Butter

Tue, 11/07/2017 - 16:18 -- kyraod

I knew it when I first saw you,

Though we were much younger then,

That you were special, you were meant to find me,

That I loved you.

The beginning was not easy,

We were young and irresponsible,

We did not know what was best for each other,

But we learned.

Every day we learned,

Boundries, flaws, quirks,

And every day we grew, our love growing with us,

Rooting itself deeply into the Earth.

After all you have done for me

I still am not perfect,

But your love for me has no conditions.

You still make mistakes,

And i still love you everyday,

Even when it is hard.

I do not know if you understand the words "I love you"

But I know you understand the feeling,

Because you are the first one to greet me when I come home,

And the last one to say goodbye,

Because you sit with me while I work,

Even when I have no attention to give you,

And because when i come home after weeks of us being apart,

You run barking to the door, wagging your tail so hard your body wags with it.

Because I love you,

I will still take you for walks in the frigid rain,

And because I love you,

I will still cuddle you afterwards, despite the smell.

Because I love you,

I will not let you get away with eating out of the garbage,

But because I love you,

I might let you lick the empty peanut butter jar before it is thrown away.

I love you because you make me a better person,

You make me want to be as amazing as I am sure you think I am,

And you love me because you are the best dog in the world,

That will never change.
