The Parasite

Something underneath my skin
Tearing at my walls from inside, within
Testing all my patience, and trying my might
With tooth and claw and a sharpened bite
A dark eyed shadow hiding near
Locked inside all my hopes and fears
It's there in the photos if you dare to look
Lingering just out of sight, a mischievous crook
A thought, a whisper with it's gasping breath
It's voice smells sour, and dank like death
A creature only I can see
A fight with a weak and broken plea
It's nails dig under my cloak of shame
They prod and poke and taunt and blame
They tear from me my weary sheild
My naked self, and soul revealed
They cut so clean, with a doctor's aim
And bite what dreams and hopes remain
It leaves me sudden, broken, bare
My severed body torn, impaired
My figure weak and fately tired
With my flesh and being taken, acquired
Yet the beast still comes for more to take
So here I am... Alone..... Awake.
