Numbers

You see, weight is too much,
The pounds are too much,
The scale says "enough"
But the numbers don't bluff.

Below layers of fat
(Which really aren't there)
That's where I hide,
In the body I wear.

In all truth,
My body is not big,
But as a youth
I aim to be a "twig".

Perhaps it's a flaw,
A fault of my own,
Or maybe it's just
The path I've been shown.

I hide behind numbers,
That of a scale.
Perhaps maybe one day
The obsession will fail.
