I think I'm falling in love with a ghost, dear,
I think I'm falling asleep.
I see him on the edge of my vision,
singing me soft lullabies with ethereal beats.
The ghost's eyes peer out at me,
a misty blue,
fog swirls 'round his face,
resembling you.
I dread the daylight
for it dashes through blinds
and scatters the form of him
gone till the night.
I'm addicted to starry skies
that his shape of transparency cannot disguise.
Sweeping clouds block white moonlight,
giving him soft dancing bruises tonight.
My ghost draws nearer and I close my eyes
I feel his lips delicately brush mine.
Then I open my eyes again, eager for sleep,
but the sun has arrived again and forced him to leave.
I lay patiently, alone in my bed,
waiting for nightfall and my eventual death.
I'm counting the minutes until we're together,
and willing the sun to slip away for the rest of forever.
I'm begging for Death to spirit me to his side
when daytime can't do more than wake us with light.
I'm falling for my ghosts, my love,
but just overnight.
