No Longer Trapped

Thu, 07/25/2013 - 17:01 -- tpark

My mind races,

Screaming to be heard.

But the words blur,

The sentences trickle away.

My jaw clenches shut,

And my mouth turns to desert sand.

A lump invades my throat,

The heavy silence lingers.

How do I give my soul a voice?

I write poetry.

The words strengthen,

The sentences rise up to touch the sky.

My breath flows like waves in the ocean,

And my heart burns with life.

No longer trapped within my body,

I’m free to write.
