The new now

We used to be scared of people wearing Hijabs,

Now, everyone is running around covered in masks,

Hiding their faces and scared to embrace,

Anyone other than their own selves.

Liberty taken away for the "greater good"

Doing just as everyone is told they should

The divide between rich and poor becoming wider

As the virus is now societys' new divider.

Future is a grey, foggy concept of mystery

The old ones tell us this is just history

repeating itself 0 over and over again,

Yet i still wonder, will the world ever be the same?

This poem is about:
Our world

Annette M Velasquez

Clear, honest and powerful. Your poem brought up important and revelant points. The use of rhyme is effective and the descriptions are exact, the images sharp. The last line is thought- provoking and something that resonates with everyone.
