My Generation Needs A Dictionary

All the words that people use,

and don't know what they mean.

The definition is left hidden,

caused more damage than I've ever seen.

These sticks and stones are nothing,

and I can hardly take

the words that swirl inside my head;

they're keeping me forever awake.

Immersed in a culture

that doesn't comprehend

the impact its words make.

This filth has built upon my skin.

The need to shed it it like a snake

Never-ending!

When will it reach an ending,

or will I keep pretending

that everything is okay?

Push it away!

Out of sight, out of mind.

But, wait!

I still look up to find

the darkness closing in,

always tempting me with sin.

Snuff out the light.

I cannot fight.

The night

begins to battle the sun

and win.

I thought I had restricted myself

as to not to be conflicted

by this conflict.

My mind and my mouth constantly contradicted.

My conscience has flipped,

and before it can be nipped,

a thought no one was supposed to hear

has slipped between my lips.

It's out in the open,

And hearts, they are left broken.

It's up in the air.

And I am left so scared.

The words that I've said, the things that I've done

have turned me into someone I don't recognize.

And I realize

that I used to be that person hoping for a change.

So I'm starting anew.

The pieces of me I chose to pick up are few.

I'm building myself upon a lighter foundation,

a creation that has a brighter sort of hue.

I'll go back to civilization,

apologize for all the created frustration and aggravation.

Then I'll give them a demonstration.

across the nation.

I know from experience that our language

needs alteration.

All the words that people use,

and don't know what they mean.

The definition is left hidden,

caused more damage than I've ever seen.

But I set a new scene,

make a fresh routine.

I am a dictionary.

Help you know what you say,

and say what you mean.
