My Escape

I’m tired. Worn down.

Reality is heavy.

Day in, day out, responsibility takes its toll.

Before I’m even awake, I dread the day to come.

If only I could escape!

Find solace and respite.

I need to get a breath.

Have to press pause.

Have to get away before the world crushes me.

Put on a brave face, nose to the grindstone.

If only I could escape!

Find solace and respite.

I crave my secret cove.

My place to forget.

In the day I wait, watching to clock hands tick by.

No rest for me, not yet.

If only I could escape!

Find solace and respite.

At last it’s time.

I’m ready for it to end.

When the night comes I cannot wait to get in.

I enter in exhaustion, and fall at my Father’s feet.

My place to go escape.

To find solace and respite.
