Mother's Day: An Open Letter From Your Mother
Mother’s Day Flowers:
An open letter from your mother:
An embryo encased within the sheath of a seed,
I have loved you since before you were born.
Enclosed within my womb
I tended to you as you grew.
My core danced and spun
pulled by the tender force of my love for you.
Each breath between my lips,
an attempt to sustain a life as I carried you.
As you started to bud,
I vowed to nourish and provide for you.
But the day you decided to snip your stem,
trees were uprooted
taken out of the ground;
the dirt, forced to dissolve.
My core ceased to turn―
terminating my ability to foster you,
making resources
limited.
Yours (only if you choose),
Mother.
