In the Morning Light

In the morning light

A Poem by Larry Cruikshank

last night the tropical breeze
swept inhibitions away
down the coastline
out to sea
our passions
champagne bubbles
me
exploring her

and

she enjoying me

we woke
wrapped
together
out on the lanai
the sun starting to rise up
painting glow into the sky
I figured in morning light
I would regret what I had done
but sober I looked into her eyes
my respect she had won

there looking back at me was an angel
naked
in the radiance of morning light
I quickly asked her
to stay for breakfast
thinking not of breakfast

but of another night
