The Monarchy
Location
My mother is the queen,
For control is all that matters.
My father is the king,
The foreseer of decisions.
Mother fends for her bishops,
But they cannot save her children.
Father puts faith in his knights,
But they cannot save his castles.
We are prepared to fend for them,
Though we question our faith in them.
Change is our repulsive reflections,
That we are forced to face.
As change crosses the line,
My siblings and I are abandoned.
Mother is fending for her bishops,
Father is putting faith in his knights.
Where are our bishops now?
For there is no one to turn to.
Where are our castles now?
For there is no place to retreat.
Linked in a chain together,
We are exposed for what we are.
We were not built to be monarchs,
For in this game of life we are only pawns.
